Michael Jackson the John Lennon of our generation?
I read someone say he and John Lennon were the same….lol
HELL NO!
John Lennon was a revolutionary and a voice of the a people during a time of international and national economic stress and war. He spoke up against war, politicians and also became personally involved with politics, lead huge rallies and protests. And held numerous FREE concerts.Aside from social accomplishments, John Lennon revolutionized MUSIC. MJ just turned something that was already there and made it better. I'll give him that.
Who did Michael Jackson stand up and die for except himself? Who did he lead into protest? Who did he speak for in ANY song, speech or lecture? He did nothing for our 'generation' except make great dance music, cool dance moves, and showed that no matter who you are,if you got money, you get away with sleeping with young boys and admit it. Innocent because you had an abusive childhood? Look,my parents kicked the living crap outta me with belts, pots and pans and I dont feel the need to pretend I'm Peter Pan and socialize with young children in my bedroom. And if he didnt have enough common sense to realize how unacceptable his behavior is,maybe he's better off. The man lived in his own FANTASY world and was not all there. PERIOD. An icon, sure. But the way he is idolized and almost looked at as a god-like figure is disturbing and makes me sick.
Look, the man just made music. That's it. Leave him be.

During Lennon's time there were wars and actual things to protest
(or so lennon felt). Michael Jackson is completely different and innovative in his own ways much like lennon. I personally wouldn't lump the two in the same category that's for sure. They were both equally talented and they both deserve equal respect to an extent.
In a way MJ was much as Lennon was
I was on a tech scout for a movie I'm starting work on next week.
"the john lennon"
not so much, because john lennon made rock music.
however, he made african americans be viewed on MTV!
aka since his "Thriller" music video, he changed the way african americans were looked at along music,
without him, african americans may not be able to be view on MTV and all that…
BUT im not sure, but he changed the way african americans were viewed by music.
Truthfully, it all just rests on opinions.
"Look, the man just made music. That's it. Leave him be."
If you feel that way then why post this honestly?
Also, I might say that Michael stood up for children. He donated to many charities and helped many less fortunate children out although many people like you don't seem to understand how his intentions were good and pure.
Michael left a way bigger impact on me personally than Lennon did, but I will not try to bash him.
I think you need to listen to:
Heal The World
They Don't Care About Us
Earth Song
Little Suzie
Gone Too Soon
Scream
All his songs have good messages, he spoke for all of us…
